In July 2026, more than 2,500 scholars, students, artists, and professionals gathered at the Federal University of Bahia in Salvador for BRASA XVIII. Across 428 sessions, participants shared new research, renewed longstanding collaborations, and formed connections across disciplines, institutions, countries, and generations.
The congress also offered many opportunities to experience Salvador and to engage with the city’s intellectual and cultural life. From panels and roundtables to informal conversations, performances, and special events, BRASA XVIII reflected the breadth and vitality of Brazilian Studies today.
